About Beerbohm Bar

My husband and I previously ran numerous pubs in Derby before moving to Lichfield from Stoke-on Trent in November 2009 to reopen the failed Duke of York on Greenhill.

After an extremely successful 6 years running a tenancy there we decide that having been in the trade for 24 years that it was about time we had a 'free house'.

Thankfully we found the old Spark Cafe which we thought suitable and proceeded to refurbish.  It took a period of 3 weeks and extremely long hours to complete. Our eldest son Jon did an amazing job building  the bar, back fitting and fixed seating. We opened on 16th December 2015 as Beerbohm.

We wanted to do something a little different in Lichfield and so decided on as well as doing the cask ales we would also branch out into the Belgian, German and American  beer market. We also wanted a great wine list, a selection of gins, malt whiskies and to also continue with great tea and coffee.

Our Namesake - Max Beerbohm

MAX BEERBOHM  full name Henry Maximilian Beerbohm was born in London in 1876.  He was an essayist, parodist and caricaturist but really first became known in the 1890s as a dandy and humorist.
